Dr. Obinna Akano earned his Doctor of Optometry degree (OD) from the prestigious Imo State University. In his pursuit for more challenges and desire to move outside his comfort zone, he sought for and earned his license to practice Optometry in the State of New York in 2011. He believes that to be knowledgeable about the treatment of ocular diseases and the ocular manifestation of systemic diseases is great but equally important, if not more, is the knowledge about prevention, knowledge about the risk factors associated with these diseases and the importance of health education. To have this knowledge and to be able to communicate these ideas to patients is priceless.
